Nashville- The Hermitage

Andrew Jackson is one of the most fascinating people in U.S. history.  Most people know that he was the hero of the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812, and that he was elected president of the country twice.  Lesser known is that he hated journalists, who he blamed for the death of his wife, and that he fought in several one on one duels with his enemies to defend his honor and that of his family.

The Hermitage, on 4580 Rachel's Lane, was his home.  Its understated exterior is built mostly of brick, and it has fine doric columns.  The interior, though, steals the show with its beautiful Victorian era lighting fixtures, wallpaper, carpeting, and tilework.  And don't forget about the picturesque garden, which matches the interior in terms of grandeur, blow for blow!
